The Catcher In The Rye

My favorite book.

The Catcher In The Rye is one of my favorite book. When I was at home in Shizuoka last weekend, I reread that book after a long time because I had nothing much to do. I think that it was my third time to read that book. I have read the book when I am looking for new idea for something or when I wanted to escape from my lazy daily life. Around that time, I was planning about New York trip. I think it reminded me of that book.

I thought that the book was very interesting when I read it for the first time. I sympathized with the thoughts of the teenage boy Holden. He quit high school and went back to home from the dormitory, because he couldn't get used to school life. I think that he tried to adapt to society. He thought about his friends, family, teachers and even ducks in the pond of Central Park.

All people think about society when they are teenage. They have to know about how to get on with people. The society would become larger with their growth. When you come to know the dirty part of society and you couldn't trust it, you would try to escape from the society. But, you already know that it's no use escaping form the society. So everybody must be familiar with situations like that.
I thought Holden already knew that his behavior was not good. But he had no idea what he should do. The title of the book is The Catcher In The Rye. I think that it means that he wants to have someone warn him against his wrong behavior. I think the most important thing that matters for him is living with his family. He complained about his boarding school. According to the advertisement of the boarding school, it said that 'We have been molding boys into splendid, clear-thinking young men'. I don't think that they can bring up clear-thinking young men. I wonder how teachers could know each students personality and their thoughts. They're all susceptible teenagers. Their parents know their sons and daughters more than teachers. And teachers have no responsibilities of lifetime of all students. I guess that's why he escaped from the phony school. I think that I sympathize with his thoughts like that.
